Many thanks to Grant (VK5GR), Steve (VK6SJ), and Zeljko (VK6VY) for helping me get situated on Cocos.

If all goes smoothly with the flights to Cocos, I'll be on the island from the evening of 11 Feb 2025 through the morning of 18 Feb 2025. I'll be on the air as much as possible, and I'll post on this page when and where I'll be operating (look for "Current Activity").

In February 2025, I'll be doing a limited DXpedition to Cocos Island, combined with a vacation (holiday). I'll be operating as VK9/W5EIT, taking an ICOM IC-705 transceiver, the Super Antenna MP1C, and the AH-705 tuner w/random wire. Due to the station specs, I'll primarily operate on CW and FT8. I may try RTTY or SSB if the conditions permit.
I'll be posting schedules, modes, and frequencies here.
Stay tuned!

To test FT-8 Fox/Hound, I'm running my IC-705 into a dummy load (the Fox), with my IC-7300 running at "zero power" into my EFHW dipole (the Hound). The rigs are across the kitchen table from each other. WA5EIT, my XYL, is running the Hound. The tests were on 14.085, where I'm thinking I'll operate on 20m once I'm in country.
Initially, I was running the IC-705 at "zero power" into the EFHW dipole, thinking that there'd be no way the signal could be heard. But I was wrong. It looks like K4EIA heard my test and my VK9/W5EIT callsign. My apologies to Timbo. I owe you a real contact once I'm setup in February.

During my stay, periodically I'll be uploading a list of Qs here:
